ERA RECORD TO BE BROKEN?

..............................................................................................................................................................................

We have one heck of a race in the NL for the ERA title. A record could be smashed in the process, and it could ultimately decide who wins the NL CY YOUNG award. Seattle's Teddy Hubbard and St. Louis' Hideo Yoshii are each having outstanding seasons, and both sport a miniscule ERA to boot.

Hubbard made his mark in Shoeless Joe with the Salem Lights, where he was an All-Star closer from S7-S9. Dealt to the Rochester Mountain Dwellers in S10, he left ROC and filed for free agency. Signed as a FA in S11, Hubbard was sent back to a starting role, and he hasn't let it go.

Yoshii was the no. 5 pick back in S2. He always had the potential to be a star, but never quite put it all together until this season. His previous high for wins in a season was 14 back in S5, he's on pace to shatter that record. Yoshii is one of the main reasons why the St. Louis Soul has an 11 game lead in the NL South.
