NL NORTH PREVIEW

..............................................................................................................................................................................
... Rochester Mountain Dwellers ... (92-70 in S10)

PAYROLL: $143.0M
KEY ADDS: Welington Seanez, Charlie Upshaw, Luis Trevino
KEY LOSSES: Cristobal Oropesa, Teddy Hubbard

The strong get stronger. Rochester's streak of 3 consecutive World Series wins was snapped, but they'll continue to be the team to beat going into S11. They somehow managed to pry Luis Trevino away from the Texas franchise, and he'll only make that lineup that much stronger. They are the class of the division, and another deep playoff run is inevitable.

PREDICTION: NL NORTH CHAMPS

... Montreal Olympians ... (78-84 in S10)

PAYROLL: $82.7M
KEY ADDS: Dave Haynes, Thomas Lee, Anthony Willoughby, Billy Fitzgerald
KEY LOSSES: Ewell Bierbrodt

This could be a breakthrough season for the Olympians. They did lose Bierbrodt, but added some decent FA talent (Lee, Haynes). They got Billy Fitzgerald from Cincinnati, but it did come at a heavy price (Ed Kennedy, S10 #1 Pick). If the pitching can deliver, we see good things in Montreal's future.

PREDICTION: 2nd PLACE

... Chicago Rooftops ... (77-85 in S10)

PAYROLL: $74.4M
KEY ADDS: Joe Kerr, Butch Granger, Guy Fyhrie, Garrett O'Leary
KEY LOSSES: Hank Barry, Tomas Candelaria

The Rooftops get out of the NL North basement in S11. Adding Fyhrie to their already talented rotation is just what they needed. LaTroy Cook will continue to blossom into a superstar. No miracles here, folks.. however, things are looking better.

PREDICTION: 3rd PLACE

... Seattle Fish Mongers ... (80-82 in S10)

PAYROLL: $110.1M
KEY ADDS: Teddy Hubbard, Jerrod Flair, Josh Miller
KEY LOSSES: Cozy Murphy, Curt Humphries, Scot Milligan, Dweezil Flores

Seattle took a huge hit in the offseason with the losses of two of S11's most prized Free Agents, Curt Humphries and Cozy Murphy. Teddy Hubbard will be counted on to provide some quality innings, and Josh Miller will be a servicable bat in the lineup. Still, we think the losses severely outweigh the gains.

PREDICTION: 4th PLACE
