NL SOUTH PREVIEW

..............................................................................................................................................................................
... St. Louis Soul ... (89-73 in S10)

PAYROLL: $91.9M
KEY ADDS: NONE
KEY LOSSES: Bob Wooten, Lawrence Monahan

The Soul finally broke through in the playoffs and advanced all the way to the NLCS, before finally getting eliminated by Boston. They've expressed their desire for a big bat, but haven't been able to get one. Still, we think they are the class of the division and will once again get that taste of the playoffs.

PREDICTION: NL SOUTH CHAMPS

... Little Rock Lightning ... (73-89 in S10)

PAYROLL: $86.1M
KEY ADDS: Will Barkley, Ed Cash, Abraham Burke, Frank Evans, Pablo Ramirez, William Yamaguchi, Eddie Fultz, Jimmie White
KEY LOSSES: Russell Fitzgerald, George Kidd, Edwards Osik, Heinie Roberts, Rod Green

Little Rock made a ton of changes in S11. They now have a revamped rotation (Ramirez, Barkley, Evans) and added bats in the lineup (Burke, Fultz). Throw in the added progression of Luis Sanchez, and this team could possibly earn a WC bid.

PREDICTION: 2nd PLACE

... Montgomery Smooth Skies ... (87-75 in S10)

PAYROLL: $79.9M
KEY ADDS: Lenny Thames
KEY LOSSES: Leon Ray, Victor Grey,

Montgomery didn't get worse in S11, they just didn't make nearly enough moves to keep up with the rest of the division. They will go as far as Cristobal Nieves and Jose Bocachica takes them.

PREDICTION: 3rd PLACE

... Texas Rangers ... (70-92 in S10)

PAYROLL: $66.8M
KEY ADDS: Ronald Middlebrook, Roosevelt Hidalgo, Pat Chen, Billy Dickey, Raul Johnson, Ugueth Padilla, Cristobal Oropesa, Grover DuBose, Tex Phelps
KEY LOSSES: Luis Trevino, Lorenzo Ortiz, Dennis Parkinson, Bernard Moore, Flash Lowe, Jayson Hughes

New team owner wafairb wanted to put his own personal stamp on this team, and that he did by dealing all-world 1B Luis Trevino. Oropesa is a stud and will become the team's ace SP. However, this club is going to need several more seasons of rebuilding to even think about competing for a division title.

PREDICTION: 4th PLACE
