TOP 5 OFFSEASON FA SIGNINGS

..............................................................................................................................................................................

Milt Kipling, ARI

Arguably SJ's most complete catcher, it was rather hard to digest for Milwaukee Natural fans the fact of Kipling playing for another team. However, we all know how Free Agency works. Arizona was happy to scoop up the 33 year old for the tune of 55M over 5 years. I bet Nicholas Lanier was happy as well.

Hideo Yoshii, SF

We're used to seeing San Fran throw the big bucks around every offseason. Moreso than not, it never really panned out for them. However, I feel the trend changing. Yoshii is in his prime, and his arm was badly needed by the VooDoo to even think about contending in the AL West.

Stan Fitzgerald, SCZ

Another solid reliever signs for an affordable price. Yeah, he's 35 and the best years of his career are well behind him, but Fitzy can definitely still make a major impact. Two years at 1.6M a pop, it was a low risk/high reward move for the Sequoias. A no-brainer, if you ask me.

Angel Ramirez, SYR

I'm putting Syracuse on watch as being a team that could see a huge improvement from the previous season. I've been liking the moves they've been making, and this signing is one major reason why. Ramirez has decent stats (despite spending the last several season in hit-happy Arizona), and I think he'll do quite well for the Iriquois. He's no spring chicken, but his experience will do wonders for their rotation.

Terrell McCartin, ROC

The 6-time All Star has plenty of good seasons left, and Rochester was quick to pounce. Two years at 6M a season is an absolute steal. He'd make a fine LR option, who could provide the occasional spot start here and there. He won't dominate like he once did, but leave it to the R-O-C to get another big-time talent for the bargain price.

JUST MISSING THE CUT

Charlie O'Keefe, SF; Billy Weathers, MNT; Bernard Moore, SEA
