SALEM DEMOTES YANG

The Salem Lights today made some roster changes, in particular to their pitching staff. The Lights demoted SP Brian Yang to their AAA affiliate.

YANG: DEMOTED TO AAA

Yang was 4-11 with a 7.30 ERA in 22 starts so far in S12. He was a surpise selection for the Light rotation back in S11, going 15-7 with a 4.50 ERA. Light management have told the SJ Blog that Yang still figures to be a big part of the Salem future. However, they feel a trip to the minors right now will enable Yang to work out his mechanics.

CASTILLA: PROMOTED TO SALEM

To take Yang's spot on the roster, they called up AAA 3B Lorenzo Castilla. Castilla is highly regarded as one of Shoeless Joe's most talented prospects, and has been destroying minor league pitching since signing an IFA contract back in S9. For this season, Castilla will be switching between 1B and DH, giving starters Geronimo Elcano and Derrick Duckworth much needed time off. Castilla figures to compete for the starting RF job in S13, with possible time put in at DH as well.
