HYNES PITCHES A GEM!

..............................................................................................................................................................................

HYNES: 9 IP, 0 ER, 0 H, 10 K, 92 TP

Santa Cruz (CA)

Less than a week after reporting about the first (combined) no-hitter of the season, we have our very first single no-hitter. In the 3/26/11 AM Cycle game between the Milwaukee Naturals and the Santa Cruz Sequoias, the matchup featured two up-and-coming SPs in Shoeless Joe. Santa Cruz's Hal Perez taking on Milwaukee's Miles Hynes. When it was all said and done, Milwaukee won the game 5-0. More importantly, Hynes walked away from the field the recipient of a no-hitter.

Moises Ozuna was the offensive star of the game for the Naturals, as he went 1 for 4 with a big three run HR in the 7th inning to put the game away. Heinie Roberts added 3 hits and a run scored. However, the real star of the game was Miles Hynes, who earned the no-hitter in only 92 pitches. Hynes was actually one Tony Velazquez error away from a perfect game. Velazquez booted a ball to allow Jerry Strong to reach base in the 2nd inning, ending any hopes of a perfect game. Still quite the achievement for Hynes, who figures to be a strong part of the Natural rotation for years to come.

The SJW Blog would like to congratulate Miles Hynes and the Milwaukee Naturals on a job well done!
