TRYING TO RIGHT THE SYRACUSE SHIP

..............................................................................................................................................................................

Things just haven't gone Syracuse's way so far here in S10. Only three seasons removed from winning the AL North title, they find themselves in last place with the AL's worst record. All facets of the game can be blamed for this slow start... especially having a team BA of .249 (T-5th worst ML), a team ERA of 5.02 (4th worst ML), and a fan base that is clamoring for anything positive.

With the transaction deadline only days away, we saw the first signs of a team willing to do anything to improve. The Iriquois today dealt CF Stephen Banks to the Arizona Barkleys, in exchange for 3 players. Banks is a power guy with exceptional defense, and possesses the bat that Arizona has been craving. Banks has averaged 35+ HR the last three seasons, and expect those numbers to possibly even increase with the presence of Nicholas Lanier in the same lineup.

STEPHEN BANKS

Arizona sends Syracuse ML LF Douglas Gray, ML P Walt Young, and AA 3B Ismael Rosado. Gray possesses a nice blend of power and speed, who will benefit nicely in that Syracuse lineup. Young is a nice addition to the bullpen, if he can remain healthy. Rosado swings a nice bat and has above average defense, but questions appear regarding if he has the durability to last an entire ML season.
