ALL STARS HEADED TO CINCY

..............................................................................................................................................................................

With the trade deadline looming, we expected some deals to go down anytime on Monday and Tuesday. However, we didn't expect a major trade to go down.. like the one that went down today. Pending league approval, the Chicago Rooftops have agreed to send All-Star SS Zack Hernandez and AL RF Billy Fitzgerald to the Cincinnati Blue Darters. In return, Cincinnati sends Chicago ML SP Julio Gongora, ML RP Harry Sojo, and SP prospect Anderson Moss.

CHICAGO'S TAKE: Chicago had no problem putting runs on the board, their main issue was keeping them off their opponent's end. So they get Gongora, who is 5-5 with a 5.22 ERA.. hardly numbers that justify the big contract he signed with Rochester not too long ago. They also get Sojo, 5-1 with a 3.42 ERA. A decent reliever who will help out of the pen. They also planned for the future by obtaining Anderson Moss, the former Jackson first round pick.

CINCINNATI'S TAKE: Cincinnati is hitting .254 as a team in S10, and the additions of Zack Hernandez and Billy Fitzgerald should help improve that. They are both legit superstars who will help Cincinnati gain some ground in the AL North. The Blue Darters have a nice trio of young superstar hitters in Hernandez, Fitzgerald, and Bill Barkley. Will they catch Trenton and Milwaukee in the standings? We're not sure, but we do know that they will be a legit contender for many seasons to come.
