TOP 5 SJ OFFENSIVE SEASONS

..............................................................................................................................................................................

Throughout the entire history of Shoeless Joe World (and even going back to the Braggin' Rights days), there have been a lot of impressive offensive seasons. We are fortunate here in Shoeless Joe to be the home of some of HBD's most impressive (fantasy) players found anywhere. Ever wanted to figure out just who had the best offensive statistics for a single season? Well, since we're still killing time, I decided to rank them. The top 5 offensive seasons (in my opinion) in SJ history, starting with...

5. LUIS TREVINO, SEASON 8

Trevino is already considered one of SJ's best hitters, but in S8, he put together some rather impressive numbers. A .340 BA, 54 HR, and 146 RBI. He also collected a SJ-record 233 hits and 116 runs scored. The most amazing stat is that he didn't even make the all-star team. The NL is that stacked. However, Trevino still deserves props for this unbelievable season.

4. HECTOR RODRIGUEZ, SEASON 1

Back in the Braggin' Rights days, Rodriguez was a flat out stud. Playing for JAX (now Jackson) in S1, Rodriguez went absolutely nuts. A .327 BA, SJ-records 75 HR and 191 RBI. Also throw in 208 hits and 152 runs to this great season. H-Rod made a clean sweep at the awards ceremony.. silver slugger award, an all-star trip and AL MVP.

3. TROY COFFMAN, SEASON 4

Coffman has slowed down somewhat, but his early days can not go unnoticed. In S4 for JAX, Coffman hit .332 with 67 HR and 176 RBI. He had 184 total hits to go along with 146 runs. Coffman hit the trifecta of awards as well, topping it off with the S4 AL MVP award.

2. BILLY LAMB, SEASON 5

Lamb has "struggled" recently, and the quotations surrounding that word definitely apply. A struggling Billy Lamb season is equal to a normal player's career season. However in S5, Lamb took his offensive output to new heights. Lamb hit an impressive .355 BA, 66 HR, and 169 RBI. Toss in 209 hits and 142 runs to go with it. He was the silver slugger 1B, as well as an all-star (well deserved). However, the MVP award slipped through his grasp. The winner of the award in S5? Well, he just happens to be the holder of (in my opinion) the greatest offensive season in SJ history.

1. NICHOLAS LANIER, SEASON 6

LANIER: HE'S THE MAN

You can pretty much nominate any season of Lanier's and call it one of the greatest offensive seasons in SJ history. However, S6 took the cake. Just look at these numbers, if you will. A .334 BA, 53 HR, and 152 RBI. He collected 209 hits and 172 runs. The most impressive statistic? He had 95 SB. 95!! Not to mention he was only caught 6 times. You'll be lucky to see anybody put those kind of numbers up again. He went to the all-star team, won the silver slugger award, won the MVP award, and any other award you want to make up for him. He deserved them all.
