Fans of Shoeless Joe will be seeing two familiar teams in the S9 postseason, that being the Rochester Mountain Dwellers and the Salem Lights.
The #2 seed Rochester squad advanced to their third World Series in as many seasons as they defeated the #4 seed San Diego Padres in 4 straight games. Rochester outscored San Diego 21-9 in those four games, taking advantage of a usually tough San Diego pitching squad that was considered one of the league's best. If you are familiar with Shoeless Joe at all, then you are well aware that Rochester has won the last two World Series in SJ. Rochester barely earned the #2 seed in the S9 playoffs, but they showed just how tough they really are by sweeping in both the DCS and LCS rounds.
Rochester will be seeing a familiar opponent in the S9 World Series, as they take on a Salem squad they defeated in the S8 World Series. Salem dispatched the #2 seed New York Nippers in 5 games, setting up last season's World Series rematch. Salem didn't dominate by any stretch, as three of the games were decided by one run, and all three were decided in the ninth inning. Salem proved to be too strong for the Nippers as they ended up outscoring the Nippers 14-7 in the last two games, earning another trip to the World Series.
