Santa Cruz (CA)When owner greeny9 took over the Santa Cruz Sequoias franchise, nobody expected much from the team. He was inherited a struggling team, an exhausted ML pitching staff, and not much hope from the fan base to turn things around. Since his arrival in Santa Cruz, the Sequoias have gone 18-25.. not very good, but for the shape this team was in when greeny9 took over, pretty impressive.
The SJW Blog has now learned that Santa Cruz is looking to deal their ML talent for prospects. This would include such players as Davey Estrella, Omar Lopez, Brian Dale, Brian Dellucci, and Otis Long, among others.
An unnamed source said this of the Santa Cruz situation...
"The Sequoias have been mighty disappointed with the play of most of the guys on their staff, so they are offering up most anybody on their staff that is a free agent next year. Suffice to say, they are not interested in watering my talent down by getting 3 mediocre prospects for any of these guys. They are interested in guys that will contribute hopefully as early as next year or in 2 years."
