PARK ................................. CORTEZ

The Los Angeles BLUE bombers bolstered up their ML pitching staff by signing FA P's Brian Park and Alex Cortez to ML contracts.

Park pitched for San Diego in S8, where he went 6-6 with a 2.41 ERA. He also had 4 saves in 6 save opportunities.

Cortez pitched for Arizona back in S8, where he went 5-5 with a 5.82 ERA.

The Montreal Olympians signed FA SP Jeff Robinson to a ML contract.

Robinson last pitched for Jackson in S8, where he went 2-2 with a 3.50 ERA in 24 games. He had a career year at AAA, where he went 16-6 with a 4.06 ERA. Robinson was placed in the Olympian starting rotation.

The Philadelphia Cheese Steaks signed FA 1B Guillermo Guerrero to a ML contract. Guerrero played for Montgomery in S8, where he batted .306 with 11 HR and 38 RBI. He had a career year in S7, where he batted .293 with 23 HR and 89 RBI.

The Monterrey Ping the Rookies resigned 3B David Galarraga to a ML contract.

Galarraga batted .247 in S8 with 14 HR and 63 RBI. Galarraga left the club in the offseason to test Free Agency. After no contacts from any other clubs, Monterrey contacted the 33 year old and was able to agree to a deal.

The trade between the Los Angeles BLUE bombers and the New York Nippers was finalized, sending SS Hanley Zambrano to New York.

The most notable player going to Los Angeles was 26 year old 1B Kenny Tobin. Also going to Los Angeles were 25 year old LF Pep Yamakazi and 24 year old SS Randy Jacobsen.

The Montgomery Smooth Skies placed 1B Luis Servet on the 15 day DL with a bulging disk in his neck.

Servet figures to be a major part of the Montgomery offense, as he batted .267 in S8 with 31 HR and 86 RBI. He'll more than likely be replaced in the Montgomery lineup by Jose Bocachica.

The Salem Lights made a major move in the IFA market by signing FA 3B Lorenzo Castilla to a MiLB contract.

Castilla will receive a 17.5M bonus, and he will report to Low A. Castilla has above average speed with solid power, and can hit off both lefties and righties equally well. His above average defense is also a plus.

The Montreal Olympians placed P Benito Montanez on the 15 day DL with a bulging disk in his neck. Montanez aggravated the injury against the Rochester Mountain Dwellers back on 9/5, when he struck out swinging. To take his spot on the roster, the Olympians recalled Benji Borbon from AAA.

The Little Rock Lightning placed ML RF/1B Josh Christensen on waivers. Christensen was acquired from Vancouver in the deal that sent Hector Cerda to Vancouver. Christensen is free to be claimed by any ML team.
