ELCANO HEADED TO FREE AGENCY?

One of Salem's most consistent run-producers could be headed out of town after the end of the season. KKEE 1230 AM FOX Sports radio is reporting that Salem 1B Geronimo Elcano could be destined to file for free agency after the S14 season, rather than sign a long term extension right away. It could just be a negotiating ploy by Elcano and his agent, but it's something to keep an eye on.

If Elcano hits the free agent market, you can be sure there will be a slew of teams ready to pounce on the 31-year-old. Elcano signed with Salem as a IFA all the way back in S5. He reached the majors in S6, and has never looked back. With a career BA of .293 with well over 400 HR, you can be sure that once his playing days are done, he'll be HOF bound.
