This may be a pretty easy question to answer (especially if you've been following the Shoeless Joe World lately), but what did the Buffalo Bills and the Salem Lights have in common? First glance at that question, and your instant reaction answer would be "nothing". However, dig deeper down, and the result is clear. Buffalo Bills = 4 trips to the Super Bowl, and ZERO titles. Salem Lights = 4 trips to the SJ World Series, and ZERO titles. Talk around the league was that Salem was good, but not nearly good enough to get the WS.That is, until S10 rolled around.
The Salem Lights, managed by SJ Commissioner rootgargle, did the unthinkable as they defeated the Boston Stricken Gods in the S10 World Series. It was a close series the entire way, as three of the games were decided by one run. Geronimo Elcano, who not only won the S10 AL MVP, but had a kick-ass playoffs as he batted .348 with 9 HR and 25 RBI. Santo Rijo also performed well as he batted .393 with 11 HR and 20 RBI.
It's good to see that guys like Elcano and Rijo, who figure to be in Salem's future plans, finally get their WS ring. They'd probably want to dedicate their championship run to guys like Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, Bruce Smith, and the rest of the Buffalo Bills who fell short of winning their title.
