S10 HOT STARTS

..............................................................................................................................................................................

ALBERT MERCADO, CIN

Mercado is your classic journeyman, having played in 7 previous ML seasons with numerous clubs. His career BA is .273 and has only 60 total ML HR. However so far in S10, Mercado is on fire. He has a .400 BA with 4 HR and 10 RBI, along with an 11 game hitting streak (which is still active as of this post). Now we know Mercado won't keep this pace up all season long, but for the contract he signed (2yr/$3.8M), this has to be considered one of the best signs so far.

STEVE WYNN, PHI

It's not a complete surprise that Wynn is doing well. He's put up the numbers everywhere he's been. A .417 BA, 6 HR and 16 RBI is exactly what PHI owner brisque had in mind when he signed him. Lofty expectations are sure to come when you sign a huge FA deal (4 yr/$28.4M), and so far, Wynn hasn't let anybody down.

BILLY WEATHERS, TRE

Another non-stranger to putting up big numbers, Weathers is at it again here in S10. He leads the ML in OPS at 1.322, but that only begins to tell the story. A .409 BA, 6 HR, and 17 RBI is exactly the start Trenton needs if they are to compete. History shows that Mr. Weathers can keep those numbers going all season long. And that is great news for Trenton fans.

MO NOLASCO, AUS

Tons of potential from the #2 overall pick in S6, and he's beginning to show it here in S10. Three impressive starts so far has propelled him to a 3-0 record and a 2.37 ERA. The scary part is, Austin is full of Nolasco types. High draft picks with tons of talent. Look out SJ, we could have a monster on our hands.

NICK DONOVAN, RIC

Before S10 began, Richmond was determined to improve their pitching staff. Signing this guy was a great start, inking him to a 5 yr/$50M deal. Big money yes, but so far he's living up to the deal. A 3-0 record with a 1.13 ERA is nothing to shake a stick at. Even more impressively, a .132 OAV so far. Keep these numbers up, and nothing but good things will come your way.

FREDDIE FOSTER, SAL

Salem traded for Foster last season for the stretch run, and he was a key part of the Lights' trip to the WS. Now in S10, Foster is asked to do even more. And so far, he hasn't disappointed. A 3-0 record with a 1.50 ERA has Salem fans dreaming of another WS trip.
